Meet Board Member Martina King

Inspiring Change through Medicine

Martina is a Colorado native who currently works as an internal medicine physician at Denver Health. She earned  a physics degree from St. Olaf College before attending Duke University for medical school. When she isn’t busy working, Martina loves to travel, especially to Ghana, her favorite place to visit. A fun fact about her is that she will eat anything!

Martina became involved with CHP when she was working on her undergraduate degree. She was working on starting her career path when she was put in touch with Mike Earnest. He was going on a medical mission trip to Haiti and Martina was able to tag along. “That experience informed my decision to go to medical school,” she said.

Martina is happy to be reengaged with CHP today now that she has more time. “In these 12 years or so there have been real steps made toward having all actions in Haiti be more Haitian led with a Haitian centric focus,” Martina said. “CHP has a long-standing relationship with a particular community and works to make sure that the leadership is in the hands of the people there.”
