CHP wins the Posner Center Photo Contest
Posner Center for International Development would like to congratulate our Member, Colorado Haiti Project on winning Posner Center’s first-ever Photography Contest!
“Norè Lourdmie is just as excited as Colorado Haiti Project is to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of their partner, St. Paul’s School in Petit Trou de Nippes, Haiti. Lourdmie travels an hour each way to school, sometimes by foot and sometimes by motorcycle with her family. She lives in Sainte Therese with her parents and two brothers who also attend St. Paul’s School, and the family of five uses water from one of CHP’s safe-water wells in Carefou Lendi. Lourdmie is a joyful and diligent student, testing at the top of her 3rd Grade Class.
In its initial years, St. Paul’s began with just a few children under a lean-to. Today this award-winning school hosts a student population ranging from Pre-K to 9th grade. Through its Konbit Program (meaning “coming together for the community”), The Colorado Haiti Project continues to partner with the school, laying a foundation for for students to excel and become leaders in their communities. In addition to general academics, students can also take courses in agronomy and entrepreneurship. Most importantly, St. Paul’s alumni can now be found serving as teachers at the school and in leadership roles throughout the community in areas including water management and community health.”
